Obesity has taken over the United States. A lot of kids have stopped exercising and instead stay home playing videogames or are on Facebook.
The United States of America is the second most obese country after Great Britian. A few things are to blame. For example, in the city you see fast food stores everywhere. Companies like McDonalds and Burger King have expanded over the years.
Mayor Bloomberg, mayor of New York, tried to ban large size drinks. This action was seen as a restriction on one's freedom. I don't drink large size drinks because they are just too big. The amount of sugar you get from one 7 Eleven 44 oz Super Gulp is 512 calories from sugar. The average intake of sugar a person should have is 120 calories from sugar. That one Big Gulp is more than four times the average intake of sugar a person should have daily.
Mayor Bloomberg may have been wrong to limit a person's option of drink size, but he has good reasons. New York was the first state that made fast food stores show how much calories each food has. I agree with Mayor Bloomberg's thought process, but he acted cynical. Instead of limiting options, he should show the facts about obesity on television. This way he won't look like a tyrant.
