Nursery rhymes are a good way of teaching children. The rhymes help to teach kids words, rhythm, songs and just have fun. There is also the factor of participation. Children are usually very intimidated by the school atmosphere. They miss the comfort of their home, mother’s lap and other such security factors. The teacher will be able to overcome their fears with the help of small nursery rhymes like ‘twinkle twinkle little star’, ‘one two, buckle my shoe’, ‘little miss Muffet’, ‘ba ba black sheep’ and othes. There are a lot of nursery rhymes which you may be familiar with.

There are a lot of nursery rhymes in other languages too like Hindi which gives a lot of stress to poetry known as ‘shayari’, ‘kavita’ etc: these rhymes not only help the kids to learn new words but also learn the basic concepts of subjects such as math, science and others. Brain teasers or riddles are also there and these help the child to think. The importance of nursery rhymes should not be underestimated. Rhyme books with lots of pictures and words in bold will help the child to learn the alphabet more easily. Therefore parents should buy such picture rhyme books for their kids during the formative years.
