NOT OVER WITH YOU: Devotion for Thursday August 9, 2012

Text: Micah 7: 8 – Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; when I fall, I will rise, when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me (New King James Version).

New International Version and New Living Translation both used gloat instead of rejoice. Gloat means to ‘show you are happy about your own success or somebody else’s failure in an unpleasant way’. You who rejoices over another person’s predicament, are you aware that what you have achieved is not out of your strength or righteousness? See what is in Proverbs 24: 16 & 17 and Matthew 11: 21 – 24. Whatever you have achieved is a gift from God not your power, might, wisdom, etc, (Zechariah 4: 6).

Beloved, what is the problem currently confronting you that people are making mockery of you? Is it no prospective life partner, no job, living in abject poverty, you are now an orphan or no child after many years of marriage? Cheer up you will rise again. Is it that you business has folded and you have packed up? You will surely rise when you believe God.

It is not over with you. Tell yourself that it is not over. Inasmuch as you are alive, your light must shine. Many who know me could be encouraged by my testimony. In the year 2003, will anybody believe that I would be alive to write this devotional – My Daily Covenant with God? By that year, I was battling for life. I have the story in a book titled ‘Battle for Life: How wife gave all to save husband’. It is a book worth reading. Ask for it in book shops. In your case, it is not over with you. You can still re-write your history. You can still make good out of that seemingly impossible situation. Let these passages comfort you: Psalm 30: 5, Micah 7: 7 and Isaiah 62: 2 – 4. You will have a new name that will bring you unspeakable joy.

Food for Thought: Has God ever abandoned a project? If He has ever abandoned any, then know He many abandon you.

1. Ask God to lift you out of that problem
2. Pray all your enemies will eat their words as they will come back to congratulate you.
