Hello everyone. Hope everyone is enjoying what seems to be a bit more relaxed atmosphere on the Expertscolumn. Changes in tolerance on the behalf of the administrator seems to have help alleviate certain abuses of a few writer's who have made it more of a war zone and not a tone for concentration on making money. Moderation on the site has changed in a way to help include the entire community's help. I don't know if many writers on Expertscolumn have noticed or not or taken the opportunity to moderate as they review articles making use of the newest flag system.

All writers who take out time to read articles and if they honestly believe it will help the writer and or the site, can simply report an article by using the report an article button at the button of every article page next to the make a comment button. This button is not meant for use of abuse of writers. Articles reported will go through the process of moderation at that point as well. So far a few articles have been reported and even been deleted from my understanding due to this new system of community effort.

The report a column button will help to clean up the site quickly since as many as 100 articles can be posted in one day more or less during a few hours and only a couple of human hands and eyes moderate daily the influx of these articles and those already posted. Coupled with daily moderation, emailing, answering emails, directing, plagiarizing checking and more on articles and with authors is quite a job without the support of so many writers who find themselves frustrated when seeing poorly written articles and or articles not cited.

Now is your chance to help make the difference you have begged to see happen on Expertscolumn; a site where articles are more expertly produced by more effective and efficient articles for viewing by the public. We must remember that this is a community of writers, but we are not writing for the community with hopes that it is only they who will appreciate our work. When the report tab is struck, it will open a box that says, Flag and ask why you think the article should be flagged. Fill it out with a brief and please, respectfully stated; no badgering the author personally. Press send when you are finished with your brief statement. Good luck and let's see how much sincere effort will be had by all who write for Expertscolumn.

Well written reminders, Sharon. Thanks.

About time too! I hope, however, that if an article is deleted after being flagged and reviewed then the author is somehow informed so that they can understand why the article was removed? Even a simple check box form that the reviewing moderator fills out selecting one of a handful of reasons (poor English, article that is pure advertising, abuse of links, etc.) would help the author understand what he or she is doing wrong and hence improve.

Oh. And thanks again Bruce for your honest opinion and commenting :)

Actually I've just discovered that the author IS sent notification. How do I know this? Well, um, one of my article was deleted and I got a message about it!

Bottom line, I don't delete articles. Enough said. I hit new writers as a moderator with warnings. It's up to them to save their article after that by responding with completely tasks necessary to keep an article (s) posted. Warnings from myself and any moderator, bottom line is a courtesy, not a necessity. What is a necessity is for ANY writer for ANY site to KNOW the guidelines for each writing community they are a part and to follow them; completely. Most of the articles probably deleted are those plagiarized and or warnings ignored. I use to sign up for sites myself and NOT READ guidelines, BUT, I follow the general rules of writing an article; citations, correct spelling as much as possible before if I need to edit immediately after posting :), correct citation of how to write a title, not direct hits and or insults to a person, place or thing (I understand the legality of that for both myself a site).... You know honestly, there are basic rules that follow through ALL SITES.... this one is no different. So yes Han, it is a good point made: as a reminder to not EXPECT to be given guidelines that should already be within the psyche of a writer. Also, a reminder that those who would not get a notice as to why an article of theirs may have been deleted need to REREAD or simply read the guidelines, then follow them. As adults, we all are under the rule of guidelines and authority to adhere to in every walk of life and or business. Writing for Expertscolumn should be treated by any writer as a business; themselves being an employee in a matter of speaking, yes? I only say a matter of speaking, because some writers treat posting as if it's their party and they can do what they want to.

And maybe confirm / cancel buttons before the flagging is registered? I've, er, um, just accidentally flagged someone's article because I was aiming for the 'add comment' link and missed! (embarrassed grin)

eh. Don't worry about it. Flags do not go through until the form is filled out and then sent. :) Also, even if one changes their mind, since there is not an official "cancel" button, simply going back with the back button as you know cancels a page, form.... For now, it's an option for cancelling a flag

That's a relief. I'd hate to have caused someone's article to be deleted just because I couldn't aim a mouse pointer properly!

Thanks for bringing these changes to our attention, Sharon.

I did notice the 'Report' button, but was not sure what it meant. Now I know. But I don't think I will use it ever, unless there is personal attack or very objectionable matter in an article.
