New Name

Text: Isaiah 62:4 – Never again will you be called God’s forsaken city or a desolate land. Your new name will be city of God delight and the bride of God for the Lord delight in you ad will claim you as His own (New Living Translation).

Kindly note that God is never pleased to see us suffering or being taunted by the devil and his agents who derive joy in calling believers derogatory names. Even when He at times approve of our trials as the case of Job, He is never happy to see us suffer. That is the reason why He goes through trials with us (Isaiah 43:2 and 3).

God punished the Israelites because of their sin and disobedience, which the enemy nations took the opportunity to taunt them as desolate land, forsaking by their God. However, God assured them in our text that it will no longer be so because of His love for them (Jeremiah 12:14 – 17). People will begin to call them a new name because of what God will do. This was God’s assurance.

Beloved, may be your name now is failure, good for nothing, etc, among your peers. God is telling you today that those names will change. People may have known you by the sin that you commit; a prostitute, a robber, a fraudster, etc. That name will change if only you give your life to Jesus Christ today. He will begin a new thing for you (2 Corinthians 5:17). He will give you a new name by the things He will do for you, like favoured one,  the anointed of God, blessed of God, etc, and people will see it (Isaiah 61:3). People will begin to call you the blessed of the Lord because He has great delight in you. Beloved, trust Him.

1) Thank God, for His mercies and compassion that does not fail.
2) Pray, that god will grant you a new name.
3) Pray that you will be a delight unto God.
