Mullaperiyar dam issue- How the Controversy Kickstarted now.
A widespread uprising has occurred in Kerala now. The Mullaperiyar issue is being brought back into the minds of all the Indians again.It is nothing new.the dam has been there for more than 100 years.The erosion of limestone from the dam has been happening for almost 50 years. The dam is in trouble...There is no doubt regarding this in the minds of anyone. But what surprises many in the country has been the fact that this new uprising did not have any particular cause of origin.
Only fact that that can be pointed out is the fact that there has been continuous earthquakes in the area for some time now. This earthquakes were nothing serious but the thought of what if it becomes serious crossed the minds of many. They needs to be lauded.it is some of them who created many awareness groups in face book and message had spread too rapidly. News media followed it up and soon every keralite had just one issue on their minds..........Mullaperiyar dam.
The works of many facebook groups needs to be lauded in this instance particularly AISWARYA AIKYAVEDI who created mullaperiyar community and Renjith Ramesh who created MULLAPERIYAR ... Help us to Survive.... group at .
The awareness they had created among people of Kerala has done a lot of good for the state.Ministers became active and the issue once again reached the office of prime minister of India. With many campaigns and satyagrahas going on regards to this, there was no choice for anyone other than to follow it.
Social networking sites have the power to create uprisings among the people. This was proved in Egypt earlier when hosni mubarak was thrown out of power. This time Kerala proved it right with Mullaperiyar dam issue.
One thing needs to be remembered here. Mullaperiyar dam is in trouble..the sooner a solution is provided to it, it is the best...if some good solution is possible due to this controversy, then one guy i need to thank will be facebook .

The only solution is to demolish the dam and study the strength of the dam in presence of neutral external agencies. Analyze the result with respect to each states claim. If the dam was secure then rebuild the dam and renew the deed with 100 % Tamilnadu’s interest and on the other hand if kerala was right ,not a single drop of water should be given to them.( playing with the life of 35 lakhs peoples and their belongings). Even if any of the state is not ready to this solution then we can read that they are not confident on their claim.

thanks prajith for the reply.......your views sounds a bit extreme though it has logic in it. the new dam has to be built at any cost to safeguard the safety of kerala and at the same time it is also important to provide Tamilnadu with the water.
