Mother’s milk is the best nourishment for babies and now researchers have found it is even more than just nourishment. Mother’s milk has ingredients that babies cannot digest and were thought useless, but new research shows this by product coats the babies intestines with a substance that protects it from noxious bacteria. So mothers, breast feed your babies.
Mother’s milk is the very best food for babies, that fact is well known, but new research has shown it is even more beneficial to babies than suspected. A large part of mothers milk cannot be digested and has a different benefit for baby than nourishment. That particular substance coats baby’s intestines protecting it from harmful bacteria. The indigestible substance is complex sugars derived from lactose which was thought to have no significance, even though it’s 24 percent of mothers milk.
Researcher Bruce German said, “We think mothers have evolved to let this stuff flush through the infant.” German sees mother’s milk as an astonishing product of evolution which has been shaped by natural selection. He said, “Everything in mother’s milk costs the mother. She is literally dissolving her own tissue to make it. From the infants prospective, it is born into a world of hostile microbes, with an untrained immune system and lacking the caustic stomach acid that in adults kills harmful bacteria. Any element in mother’s milk that protects the infant will be heavily favored by natural selection.”
German and his associates are continuing research on mother’s milk hoping to find more information about how to best feed and defend the human body. They think that though milk itself is designed for babies, its lessons might apply to adults. Also, lessons learned might apply to premature babies. It has long been thought that only mother’s milk contained complex sugars but they have recently been found in whey, a by product of milk. Researchers plan to test the complex sugars in premature babies and the elderly.
Proteins in milk, one called Alpha-lactal-bumin can attack tumor cells and virus by restoring their ability to commit suicide, and protein in milk that accumulates when a baby is weaned is a signal for the mother’s breast to remodel itself back to it’s normal state. This research has make researchers aware that every component of mother’s milk probably has a special role, though they are still finding what the purpose is. So moms, you are doing more for your baby than you thought by breast feeding. Expecting mothers, Please breast feed your baby to start him off with the best health possible.

All this is true indeed! But mothers have to learn what to do in order to have more milk. With the food we eat this is a big problem. Thanks for sharing.
