Minecraft Beginner tutorial: How to survive your first night in Mincecraft

Minecraft is a popular game where you fight monster, build, craft and many other things! In this column I will tell you how to survive your first night as well as building your shelter.

When you start Minecraft, Go ahead , click single-player ,click survival mode and start playing right away! When you will start a new world, it will be laggy because the terrain is still loading. After few minutes it will be fine. Start your work by collecting woods from nearby trees. You just approach a tree and keep holding the left mouse button; it will cut the woods with your bare hands because you didn’t make any tools yet. Watch out for the sun! Because minecraft has day/night cycle. When night falls, strange skeleton archers, zombies and creepers will spawn. So you got to be fast, 15 Woods should be enough.

Two of the main important resource are:
1. Wood
2.Coal or Charcoal.

These 2 important resources are required to make your first shelter. Now press the button “E” on your keyboard and open up the inventory. You can see a 2x2 crafting place. Place all your wood there and at right of the 2x2 crafting box you can see the output. So you will get wooden planks! 1 Wood= 4 wooden planks. So you will get 60 wooden planks if you have 15 Woods. Night will descend after few minutes. Now you must choose a mountain area location. It’s because coal is mainly found in Mountains and Caves. So if you are lucky enough and found some coals in mountain, we will build our shelter there. But, if you didn’t find any coal then we will show you how to make Charcoal! Charcoal and Coal are pretty much the same. Charcoal is made from furnace and Coal is naturally found in mountains. We want coal because we want torches. Monsters spawn in dark area, so it’s important to light up your surrounding area as well as your home.

If you find coal, I will tell you how to make a pickaxe: Open up your inventory Place wooden planks in that 2x2 crafting table (covering whole slots) and get a Workbench/crafting table. Now place your workbench by clicking the right click button. Right click your workbench or crafting table and you will see your crafting space is now 3x3! Now we will make some sticks. Place 3 wooden planks in one slot and place 3 more planks top of that slot. Now in output we get stick. 2 wooden planks= 4 sticks. So will get 12 stick and it’s enough.
And open your Crafting table again and place like this:

E= Empty
S= Sticks

Place like that and you get wooden pickaxe! Now wield your pickaxe and mine some cobblestones. About 15 would be enough. Go to your crafting table and place all your cobblestones in the 3x3 space except the middle one. Then you will get a furnace. Place the furnace anywhere you want. Furnace is not required right now but if you don’t have coal, then you will need the furnace. Right click on furnace and place some Woods (Not wooden planks) above the steam sign and in below add some wooden planks. And it starts cooking! Get some charcoal out of that furnace and place the charcoal top of 1 wooden stick and then you will get 4 torches. You can now build a shelter using the cobblestones and make a door. To make a door, Open up your crafting table and cover the middle and left rows with wooden planks. Place your door in front of your little house. Now Light up your house by using the torches.
