As a Clairvoyant Intuitive, I am always asked how can I strengthen and or enhance my psychic abilites. And I always say meditation is an awesome way, but I hear my clients and student asking in person and telepathically “ Shenice, sitting Indian style in a quite place for 30 min or an hour is not going to work” I say no problem. There are many paths to mediation. The key is to try them on for size and see which one works for you.

Let me introduce you to the many paths of meditation. Mediation has been in practice for many thousands of years. Science is just learning its many benefits, lowing blood pressure, balancing the mind, body and soul, lowing stress levels along with connecting us to source/god/universe. Western science is just now learning the benefits that the east has know since the dawn of man.

Chanting – chanting has been around forever. Chanting is the rhythmic speaking or singing of words (mantras) or sounds. Like om, the primordial sound, the sound of creation. Chanting up lifts the soul. Mantras are energy based sounds that vibrate through the body, Science have discovered that the bubbist while chanting the brain is producing alpha waves. Alpha waves are the brain waves of meditation, (more on alpha waves later). Me myself I love Om. In the beginning and still do I listen to meditation by Wayne Dyer of him chanting Om. Say the word Om, right now to your self. Ooooooooooommmmmmmmm. Feel it vibrate in your roots, in your chest or tingle in or around your head.

Music – music is the energy of the soul. Music has also been around forever. Tribes all over the world used drums, rattles and rocks to make sound and to connect to the spirits. Now you can listen to meditation music or whatever music that you are feeling. I have a client that listens to Journey’s Don’t stop Believing every morning to start his day. Others listen to mediation music. Whatever music that really hits your soul will get you in that meditative state.

Guided Meditation – Guided mediation is awesome. The mediation I mentioned earlier by Wayne Dyer is a morning and night guided meditation. Some have music some don’t. Try them on for size. They are great for beginners.

Listening to Brain Waves/ Binaural beats. – Remember I mention how the brain produces alpha wave when in the meditative state? Well, your brain produces six types of brain waves, gamma, beta, alpha, theta and delta. You can listen to alpha waves with music or to the sound of ocean waves played over them. They put your brain in the meditative state (alpha). Listening to binaural beats/brain waves is also known to develop and enhance your psychic ability and creativity.

Sitting in Silence – Second to guided or music. This is where the pros are at. They say it’s hard for beginners to sit in silence and empty there minds. I am wittiness to this. Do you recall the scene in Eat Pray Love when Julia Roberts’s character attempts to meditate? Yeah, its like that. But I can say is after many meditations sitting with guided music and listening to brain waves, your mind will want the silence as mind did. If you really want to go this path I suggest you start with a minute and build from there adding a minute either every other day or every week.

Prayer as meditation – Prayer can be a form of meditation, however it’s said in the east that prayer is asking and meditation is for listening for the anwser to that prayer. This is cool as long as you are alert to the answer. However it may come.

Visualizing – This type of meditation is great for beginners. You can find visiualtion meditations in books or on mp3. They help by giving your mind something to do. This type of meditation is just like guided, because just like guided its giving your mind something to focus on.

Breathe Meditation – This path is simply sitting in quite and focusing on your breathe going in and out. If your mind wonders, and it will in the beginning, just go back to focusing on your breathe.

Running Meditation – Yes, running. While putting this article together, one of the morning shows had a segment about running and how it’s a form of meditation. And they are right. Not just meditation but an energy release as we saw in the movie Forest Gump.

So as you can see there are many paths to meditation. The goal to it, is reconnecting to your god, and getting back to center in yourself, either in the morning or evening. Or anytime you need it. So start by picking a form of meditation and see what it does for you. And don’t stop here, there are still many other forms of mediations you can look into and research.
