Manga: A colourful new hobby

Recently I’ve been working at developing my creative skills. I thought art would make a great hobby and would mean that I don’t spend so much time in front of the computer. I started by looking at watercolours and acrylic, but lately I have become interested in creating Manga.

I had always wanted to learn how to draw animation but it always looked too complicated and that is what stopped me from even trying. However, with a few books to point me in the right direction I have been surprised how easy it is to learn.

Although the pictures look complicated to draw they are all pretty basic when you know how and are largely based on basic shapes and circles, which you then add the details to. After you have learned that, then the next step is to learn how to add the features and accessories.

I had never imagined I would enjoy Manga, or that I would even come close to be able to draw it, but it really is easy when you know how.

My first drawings still need a lot of work so I won’t be sharing them with anyone just yet, but I am really pleased with how my artwork is coming, and how straight forward it is to learn.

If you want to learn how to create Manga then there are plenty of websites around offering advice, and there are plenty of books available too. Animation is a fun and rewarding hobby and it is one that I am glad I have started.
