Why are the employees not happy? What causes the low employee morale in the company?

The answer always boils down to the management team and the management style.

People like to view themselves positively. All employees like to work happily. If they are happy, they will stay on the job despite a low salary.

On the same note, if they are not happy, they will do their best to sabotage the company.

The management style is closely linked to the morale in the workplace.

Many management teams like to produce tons and tons of policies to restrict the power of the employees.

They use the policies and the violation of the policies to terminate the service of the employees.

They think that they can change the rule anytime they want, just because they are the management teams.

They do not set the policies to make life easier for everyone.

On the contrary, these policies are set in place to destroy the morale in the workplace.

For example, when the policy says that employees must produce medical certificate when they call in sick, the management will have to set a procedure to monitor the situation.

Any employee who claims to fall sick and yet cannot produce medical certificate is liable for dismissal.

The numerous policies provide reasons for management to dismiss employees easily. After all, none of us are perfect. We are bound to violate one of the many policies in place.

What do you expect of the morale in the workplace under this environment?

The morale in the workplace definitely sinks. The employees are unhappy and they do their best to sabotage the company.

The management has to cope with high turnover. The recruitment cost increases, and the profitability decreases.

The best company does not need so many policies to police the employees. The best company provide a trusting environment for the employees to work, and the management supports and grooms the employees instead of finding reasons to fire them.

The morale in the workplace is at all time high.

That is why high morale is a reflection of good management. The employees will reward company by going the extra mile.

Low morale is the concrete proof of bad management style. The management sees employees as problems instead of resources.
