Making Money Online from a Blog : 3 Steps that work

Of late the internet has spun out so many success stories that a newbie may be forgiven if he believes that the internet is a magic tap that gives out money to those who know how to open it. The large numbers of self proclaimed internet gurus who claim to have the key to open the flood gates to monetary success only reinforce this belief. The newbie is usually so keen to make a quick buck using the online schemes that he gets suckered by many a con artist masquerading as an expert. The truth is that there are no easy pickings in life, not even on the internet.

Setting up a stream of income on the internet is simpler than going to work in the real world, but it still needs some effort. Remember the saying as you sow, so shall your reap? That holds true here as well. If you do your home work well and experiment with what works and what doesn’t, your chances of success do get multiplied. At the same time don’t expect instant results from the blog. Profiting from your blog is usually defined by the following three steps. Take a look at them here.

Creating original and interesting content.

This is the first step to monetary success. When you set up a blog, you need to have a topic that people want to know more about. It will make no difference if a hundred other blogs exist about the same topic, as long as the information that you offer is original and interesting. Naturally it is easier if there are not too many blogs on the same topic in existence already. Still pick a topic that you know something about rather than something you have no clue about. It will make it easier on your self if you do so.

Generating traffic and guiding it to the blog.

This is the second step. Having the world’s best blog is not enough. You need people to visit it and see what all it offers. Some amount of traffic will get generated on its own as soon as you begin developing content. At the same time this is not enough traffic if you are planning on making money online. You need to be able to generate a few thousand hits in a day. At first it may be difficult to imagine more than a dozen odd visitors to the blog, but if you use a few traffic generating techniques you will soon buck up the traffic that visits your blog.

Doing a fair bit of pre sell before you launch a product and monetize the blog.

This is the third step in your success story. By developing a product based on the feedback you have received on the blog you are sure that there is a need for it. Now all you need to do is market it well and you may have a best seller on your hands. There are naturally your regular readers who will be interested in the product, but there will also be others. You need to find the right way to tap your potential market. This is where social media and networking sites come in handy. These again need some experimentation.
