Luxury Hospitals – Are they Burdensome for India?

Today in the big cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore etc in India we have some very good Hospitals that are providing five star facilities in hospitality, to the patients along with very good quality of treatment which can be comparable with the treatment provided at any internationally famous hospitals. People feel that these hospitals are meant for rich and they are nothing but burden for the country. I think we need to look at these hospitals with a positive outlook.

It is agreed that these hospitals are not in reach of poor people! These hospitals are meant for those people who are rich and have the five star life styles! Since it is not really possible for such people to go to ordinary hospitals and getting the treatment there in the conditions prevailing there, I have seen one of my friends converting one of the rooms as the ICU at his place and hiring doctors and nurses to look after his ailing father! He did it as could afford to do so.

We need to think and understand that such people who have rich life style and who can afford would take their patients to some other country for the treatment if they fail to get bare minimum facilities of their expectations in India. This means India would loose lot of exchequer to foreign countries in this process in spite of having best of expertise here in the country. Here these Luxury hospitals are coming to help the government from preventing the losses by providing services to the people who can afford the facilities and also generating money to the government in the form of various taxes.

In fact today because of such Hospitals India is doing a fantastic business in Medical field as we are getting a lot of patients from other countries including America, to have the treatment in India as they are getting the similar treatment here at almost at half the cost with all the facilities and attention! Nowadays people are planning a tour to India and they are combining their treatment along with it! Several surgeries are being done in India where the patients are coming from abroad and they are really happy with the results! As far as the proficiency of Indian Doctors working in such units is concern I am sure that they are no way less than any doctors abroad! This I can say for sure as I have got couple of my Cousins working for such Hospitals in India, one is a cardiac Surgeon and another is Cancer expert (Oncologist)!

Thus I think let us not look this progress with negativity, instead let us appreciate that by having such Hospitals we are providing good facility to our own patients who can really afford to do so, thus saving the money flow to foreign countries and secondly we are saving lives of many patients coming from abroad at much cheaper cost.
