Living: Moving to Gurgaon? What you need to know
Gurgaon, the mall capital of the country, is a city with almost all the amenities if you have got the cash for it. All the major companies have their offices in gurgaon. So the demand for rentals is high. The land rates in Gurgaon are pretty high so the people moving over here should be aware that house rentals are pretty expensive and there is a quite established system of Paying Guests which generally landlords prefer but turns out to be much more expensive than actually renting a house and living on your own.
Gurgaon, for the foodies, what they say is a haven. Whatever you want, you will definetly get here. Food ranges from thai, korean, chinese, mughlai to south indian that too at very decent and affordable rates. Apart from that there is whole world of food joints in the malls which people frequent a lot. For casual drinkers its a paradise where you can get all the brands that you can think of all at a decent price.
For entertainment, due to sheer number of malls, people can catch up with new movies in hindi, english and a few other languages. Otherwise window shopping is one of the favorite past time for people in the evenings. For the party types, pubs and lounge are available in plenty, even a bowling cum lounge place in Ambience Mall.
The only catch, living in Gurgaon, is the transportation problem. There are no Gurgaon transport buses working inside the city. Sure you can catch a bus to a lot of places from Gurgaon but nowhere you would get a bus for travelling inside the city, having a vehicle is really a boon. But apart from that getting to Delhi from Gurgaon is pretty easy as there are plenty of buses and cabs that are available from wee hours in the morning to midnight.
Gurgaon has now become the hub for young professionals. If you have your own vehicle and dont mind spending a few extra bucks there is no place like Gurgaon in India.
