Let’s Face It

We greet each other.
We talk but only about the weather
And morning news.
Nothing is new
Though something in our eyes
Is showing: a love that is
Budding and pulsating. Ah, the love,
We don’t seem to notice it
Lest we be oppressed
But that’s a denial of
Everything we built.

To Only You

Don’t deny me
The pain behind the grin.
Oh, let me, let me
Join you in every
Misery, whatever the sting.
Whatever we can be,
Lovers or friends,
I’ll give you the spring,
The moon, and the ring, everything
Just to be with you.

Lovers’ Flight

Two birds glide in a cool, cloudy sky.
One is white; the other, black,
But never mind: They don’t fight.
They dream, sing, float together,
Both ready to love.

Soon they’ll pull out of their bond
Once on dreary land. They’ll quarrel
And tear each other’s wings,
Both knowing the flight is over.

Wind

Blowing wind, I hear you
calling my name and I
don’t mind if it’s only
my imagination . . . or
hallucination.

Smell of Rain

When there is rain
I need no aphrodisiac—
Its smell is enough!

Grasses

Grasses, grasses. . .
I don’t know what they mean
Until I step on them
Barefooted.
