Legendary Singer Home At Last- Etta James Passes
Legendary Singer and musician Etta James has passed today after a long bout with dementia, cancer and the fighting by relatives over her estate.. The soul singer best known in her recent years as having a battle with Beyonce over singing her staple song, "At Last." at President Obama's Inaguration Ball in 2008. Etta James was known as a fiery singer both in personaltiy and with the use of her powerful and hynoptic singing.
Etta James, not to be mistaken with another legendary singer, Etta Jones, was born Jamesetta Hawkins on January 25, 1938 in Los Angeles. She has passed less than one week before her severnty-fourth birthday. Her career spanned a variety of genres that included blues, rhythm and blues, rock and roll, soul, gospel and jazz. Her career picked back up on 1954 after various personal problems that included addictions.
Etta James was also a guitarist unknown to many new fans and a trained singer with her first professional vocal training at the age of five. James Earle Hines was the musical directore of a choir called Echoes of Eden at the St. Paul Baptist Church in Los Angeles where she would start belting songs and becoming an attraction there Leukemia was the condition that Etta James could not fight off in the long run with the many infections that come with the illness. .She was dianogsis with the condition. January seemed to be an important month for Ms. James. In January 2012 she was hospitilized to be treated for an infection caused by MRSA. She leaves no children or husband.
