The following mastery setup is a good general setup for any support character in the game. The Tier conditions are not known yet. In this guide i assume that they won't be changed, so summoners have to spend at least 4/8/12/16/20 points unlock Tier 2/3/4/5/6 respectively.

Utility Tree

Tier 1

  • Summoner's Insight, 1 point: For improved Flash and Clairvoyance.
  • Expanded Mind, 3 points: +4/8/12 mana per level.

Tier 2

  • Swiftness, 4 points: +0.5/1/1.5/2% movement speed.
  • Meditation, 3 points: +1/2/3 mana regen per 5 seconds.
  • Scout, 1 point: +5% ward range sight.

Tier 3

  • Greed, 4 points: +0.5/1/1.5/2 golds per 10 seconds.

Tier 4

  • Wealth, 2 points: +20/40 starting gold.
  • Awareness, 4 points: +1.25/2.5/3.75/5% gained experience.
  • Sage, 1 point: 40 bonus experience gain on champion kills and assists.(50% on Crystal Scar, Dominion)

Tier 5

  • Perseverance, 3 points: Increases health and mana regen by 3/6/9%.
  • Intelligence, 3 points: +2/4/6% cooldown reduction.

Tier 6

  • Mastermind, 1 point: 15% summoner spells cooldown reduction.

I have decided to go with the utility tree, spending all 30 points there. Overall this setup gives a very wide variety of bonuses including movement speed, increased health and mana regeneration, cooldown reduction, more gained experience. Lets take a closer look at some. Greed is pretty decent on support champions because they can have now a better income than before(if you don't know supports let the carry - they are laning with - kill the minions). I think one of the best change of the trees made by Riot is that they moved down Awareness on the tree, so most probably only supports will invest in it. This means a more balanced game, we may not see 5-6 levels differences now. To be honest, i don't like Mastermind that much, but on support champions it may worth it, because of the Clairvoyance spell cooldown reduction.
