League of Legends Review

League of Legends was released on the 27th of October in 2009 for the Microsoft Windows platform. The idea of the game comes from the very popular Warcraft 3 mod, Defense of the Ancients(DotA). Some DotA developers are involved with Riot Games and are continuously working on League of Legends.

Gameplay

The overall gameplay is very similar to DotA. Two even teams fighting each other to destroy the opponent's Nexus. Each player(in League of Legends called summoner) controls a champion to fight through defensive turrets and waves of creatures(minions) to reach this goal. There are over 80 champions with different abilities to choose from. Champions can be equipped with six items. These give League of Legends a huge variety. Please note that the Dominion game mode will be released soon, which will be quiet different from the above. Champions won't be able to damage the opponent's Nexus by attacking it, but by capturing and controlling zones on the map.

Features

• Free to play: To play League of Legends you just have to register an account and download the installer of the game. Players have two options to buy staff. They can earn Influence points by playing the game or buy Riot points for real money. Important to note that every champion can be unlocked with Influence points so you won't be weaker if you don't want to spend real money on the game. Champion skins and some boost items(experience boost to fasten your summoner's level gain for example) are only available for Riot points(real money).
• 4 game modes:

1. Practice: Players can set up their own session and set its properties. Even 1 vs 5 is possible this way.
2. Cooperative: It's a 5 vs 5 team fight against 5 computer controlled champions.
3. Normal: Play against other people with even teams. The matchmaking system tries to search for equally skilled players.
4. Ranked: Players who have reached level 30(highest level) are able to compete in ranked games.

• 2 Maps: Twisted Treeline for 3 vs 3 and Summoner's Rift for 5 vs 5 team fights. Soon there will be a new map released with the Dominion game type.
• Over 80 champions with different skills and abilities.
• Over 100 items to equip your champions.
• Equip runes to make your champion even stronger.
• Masteries tree for attack, defense and utility giving the game very strong variety.
