StumbleUpon.com has been my favourite social bookmarking website, but they changed their design a few weeks ago and since then new submission don't get the views they used to get. This makes the site pretty useless for any kind of promotion.
Be honest: Who does use a social bookmarking site for the purpose of collecting and harvesting bookmarks that he or she finds useful? Wouldn't you agree that the real purpose of sites like StumbleUpon or Digg are to advertise and promote your links?
StumbleUpon was my favourite. Unfortunately, I did only find out its potential in autumn 2011. If I had known earlier how great it was (no longer is!) I would have used it earlier. Definitely!
The best feature about StumbleUpon was the "stumble recent sites" feature. So when I added a link, I had a pretty good change to get a few hundred or even slightly over 1,000 viewers within the first 24 hours just because of this feature!
And on the other hand, I myself loved to browse newly added sites to discover new content.
But SU has done a major redesign and did not only change their corporate design from green/blue to grey/red, but also abolished the possibility to stumble/surf new additions!
Now, all you can do is to stumble your friends, your followers, specific interests and a few other minor categories. Not even the toolbar offers a possibility to stumble across NEW and FRESH content.
My links are dieing. I am already happy when I receive TWO views as this means that I am not the only one who viewed this content *sob*
So, will this decrease popularity of StumbleUpon? I have already considered to not use it any more. Why should I? It does not even generate back links!
What do you think about this? I'd love to hear your views on this.

I totally agree with you. SU used to be great in 2007/2008 but now its pretty much useless and we can get much better content on FB.
Cheers.
