Lance Armstrong and Livestrong Divorce

It came to many as a shock when Lance Armstrong was accused and charged by the United States Anti-Doping Agency that he had cheated during his numerous Tour de France races by using illegal performance-enhancing drugs. Many fans all over the world wouldn’t believe this. Some believe it but found it difficult to accept that their hero was involved in such a thing. Others just don’t want to believe.

Many argued that there was no way Lance Armstrong could engage in such a thing, but this arguments became shaky when Lance Armstrong himself decided not to contest the charges against him by the Anti-Doping Agency. Many fans wondered why Lance Armstrong would not go out boldly and contest the charges against him. Why wouldn’t he do that if he claims to be really innocent? Why wouldn’t he want to show that he is innocent? It now seems to many people that Lance Armstrong might be indeed guilty of all charges against him by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency and this will definitely result in authorities stripping the legendary cyclist of his seven Tour de France titles.

As if all this plus the disgrace associated with it is not enough, Lance Armstrong will have to cut ties with Livestrong, which is a very famous cancer foundation that has helped millions of cancer patients all over the world. Lance Armstrong has stepped down as the chairman of the foundation in order to save it from collapsing. He has to cut all ties with the cancer foundation if he wants to see it survive.

I look at Lance Armstrong’s case and it somehow saddens me. This is a man who has created one of the biggest charity foundations ever only for him to get separated from it because of some of the ‘wrong’ decisions he made in his life. Many experts are saying that if Lance Armstrong does not distance himself from Livestrong, there is a high chance the foundation might start losing a lot of its support. Lance Armstrong has indeed done a lot for cancer patients all over the world and it is sad to see him end this way.

Lance Armstrong's case to me remains one of the most shocking falls from grace to grass in the sporting world.
