People are speculating. People are wondering. People are asking if the beautiful commoner Kate Middleton would follow Princess Diana’s footsteps and omit the word "Obey" when pledging herself to the handsome Prince William on her wedding day?
It is highly suspected that the 29-year-old commoner Kate Middleton would follow the footsteps of Prince William’s late mother Princess Diana and avoid the word ‘Obey’ from her wedding vows on the 29th of April 2011 in Westminster Abbey when she is married to Prince William.
Instead of using the word ‘obey’, the future Queen will say the following words, “I promise to love, comfort, honor and keep” the Prince just like the late Princess Diana said several decades before her.
During her flamboyant 1981 royal wedding ceremony to Prince Charles, Princess Diana also intentionally omitted the word ‘obey’ from her wedding vows and instead said that she promises to love, comfort, honor, and keep Prince Charles.
According to experts, the reason why the word ‘obey’ will not be used and was not used by Princess Diana several years ago is because of the simple fact that the word has an extreme subordinating connotation to it. A word most women rights advocates do not agree with, for it makes it look like the man is the controller of the wife and she would have to do whatever he asks of her.
Kate Middleton, according to reports is believed would omit the word ‘obey’ and say the exact same words that Princess Diana said when she pledges herself to Prince William on the 29th of April 2011.
The wedding of Prince William of Wales and Kate Middleton finally took place at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011 and was watched on television and on the internet by billions of people worldwide, making it the most watched event in several decades.
