Before I had been using laptops for years. But 6 months ago I have changed it to IPad2 since my last laptop gave up.

I am a frequent traveler, for me it is very important to have my computer with me wherever I go. This is the only way I can manage my works taking part in several projects but being able to be present only at one place at once:)

Some years ago it was not that easy. Even if I had laptop with me there was no guarantee that the hotel or rented apartment will have Internet access at all. Or if they had, they provided it for the price of gold. 7-8 years ago I preferred to travel without my laptop and used Internet cafes or libraries for arranging my e-mails.

Later when the infrastructure became better it was worth to bring laptop but that was the time of Wi-Fi hunting. At that time hotels usually provided Internet but only for extra (and usually not cheap) price but at their hotel lobby the wi-fi was free. You also could have access in some cafes and restaurant but at times the connection was very unstable and you could arrange only low capacity businesses, like e-mails.

Laptops where large at the beginning I loved when they started to introduce the mini notebooks. You will never play computer games on them, but perfect for a traveller and already strong enough to deal with photos, videos, voice records and other media contents.
Nowadays wi-fi starts to be a natural basic service everywhere. In hotel rooms, hotel lobbies, cafes, restaurants, public places like airports, railways stations or even on some vehicles like buses, trains and lately airplanes. This is very important for travellers and gadgeters:)

Applications like foursquare and facebook, twitter can work as really prompt source of information if there is immediate access. And as a frequent traveller, travel blogger and on-line journalist I experience that the infrastructure is getting better every year for travellers that are tided to on-line connections wherever there are.
