India’s Delhi and Its Influence on Four Writing Sites

What would we do without India? India often gives more traffic to online writing sites than any other country. Delhi leads the way among the Indian regions.
Do you know that India plays an indispensable role in the fortunes of online writers? India accounts for the highest number of visits to Triond, the second highest amount of visits to Bukisa and Hubpages and the fourth most visits to Squidoo. This is remarkable since these writing sites advocate that online writers write in English. However, we have to remember that India is the second most populous country in the world. In all this Delhi stands at the top of the four lists as the city that accounts for the most Indian site visits. Let us examine the data for the four sites using Google Trends for Websites.

TRIOND
Google Trends for Websites only gives us the top four places in India that visit Triond. They are:
1. Delhi, India
2. Maharashtra, India
3. Tamil Nadu, India
4. Uttar Pradesh, India

BUKISA
Google Trends for Websites gives the top ten places in India that visit Bukisa. They are as follows:
1. Delhi, India (second most populous city in India).
2. Maharashtra, India (second most populous State or Union territory in India).
3. Uttar Pradesh, India (most populous State or Union territory in India).
4. Karnataka, India (ninth most populous State or Union territory in India).
5. Tamil Nadu, India (seventh most populous State or Union territory in India).
6. West Bengal, India (fourth most populous State or Union territory in India).
7. Punjab, India (fifteenth most populous State or Union territory in India).
8. Gujarat, India (tenth most populous State or Union territory in India).
9. Andhra Pradesh, India (fifth most populous State or Union territory in India).

Some Observations
(a) Delhi is at the top of all four lists.
(b) Maharashtra is second on all of these lists.
(c) The last three lists of ten – Bukisa, Hubpages ansd Squidoo – are almost identical. If Google Trends for Websites had given a complete list it appears that that list would have been almost identical as well.
(d) After checking Google Trends for Websites their bar graphs shows that for Triond and Bukisa, Delhi accounts for twice as much traffic as its nearest competitor Maharashtra. For Hubpages and Squidoo, Maharashtra is very close behind Delhi but both regions give much more traffic than any of the rest.
(e) Population size of a country and its cities may or may not play a part in the number of site visits. Country-wise it does but state-wise it may or may not play a major part.
What should we conclude from all this as writers? The answer is obvious. Write with India in mind. Hats off to great Indian writers like vijayanths in Tamil Nadu, Uma Shankari in Karnataka, Anuraha Ramkumar and others.
