Jealousy can have two different effects: it can poison a relationship, or it can help love. Jealousy can torture your mind with questions, doubts and various fantasies that could make you do things that you can’t imagine doing in your life.

The feeling comes from the fear that your partner can become infidel and leave you for someone else, from the fear of losing the love and becoming betrayed. Almost any person has gone through a sentimental catastrophe and this can be seen all over the world. According to statistics, around fifty percent of murders are caused by jealousy.

Even if the feeling is a negative one, one small portion of it can be useful for a relationship. The feeling manifests when you become aware that your relationship may have entered in a state of crisis and makes you remember that your partner can be attractive to others. In order for him/her to maintain his/her attention on you, he/she must receive love and appreciation from your part.

Some psychologists say that jealousy is a defense mechanism that originates from ancient times, which was helpful in maintaining stable relationships among people. The stability is important for the preservation of the species. However, these theories are not able to explain the devastating manifestations of jealousy in our days. A jealous human lives in a fantasy world and always searches for infidelity reasons and tries to control the partner through blackmail, spying on him/her, interdictions, punishments, physical abuse, etc. The relationship becomes a trap.

Jealousy comes many times from childhood traumas, especially if you had divorcing parents or parents who are infidel to each other. Sometimes, if parents raised their children in a superficial way and the children have no self confidence, they will hardly believe in other people later.

Many times jealousy is not justified and the partner can be innocent. Because of this you must properly analyze your reasons, your past and see if your partner is really guilty. Communication is one of the most important things for you and your partner.
