It has been a rough time for many in the economy. For some it has hit much worse than others. Yet, there are many people who are suffering. Granted, many are trying to pull themselves back to their feet, and trying to make the best of the situation. Yet many have stepped back and continued to howl about the lot they have in life, how it’s so unfair that they have to scrape by with little to no money, not living with luxuries that are beyond their means.

The moral of the story I think that many have learned the hard way is to save your money. Save your money, save every penny that you can. For those rough transition periods where you might not have a job right away, where you are trying to find ways to get by.

Let’s be honest here. I feel sorry for the families who do try and save what little that they can, but are unable to for various reasons. The people that is hard to muster up sympathy for is those who did have the nice cushy jobs, where if they had lived drastically under their means and put back money that could have been stretched out for at least a couple of years. But no, they had to spend every dime that they ever made.

Not to mention spending it on luxuries, on trips that they rally did not to take, on new cars where they had perfectly working ones, on partying, on who knows what vices they spent it on. They could have afforded to put back a lot of money for a time where they needed. Yet they thought that the happy days would be here forever. That they would not to save for tomorrow, because that is for people who don’t have their nice job and the money will always be rolling in.

The fact of the matter is you can be on top of the world on Monday and be down in the gutter by Wednesday at the drop of the hat. That is not just with jobs, not just without money, but that is just the chaotic nature of life.

The cold dose of reality slaps those people the hardest. And those are the people who tend to boo hoo more than your average person. If these people had been smarter about saving when times were better and the money was coming in, then they would not be in the sticky situation.

People tend to be short sighted in this way. Save your money people. Don’t be a bonehead and burn through that entire paycheck on something that you don’t really need. I’m all for a treat every now and then as much of the next person but be smart about it.

There is no retirement for many more people these days because they were not smart when they were younger. That’s really the bottom line. Budgets and saving money are your friend. Especially when you are in a position when you’re making more than the average person.
