Can you explain about the gaps in your career or in your studies?
Gaps In your career or in your studies are common. But this is not one of the easy ways to the job. If you got any gap you have to work out a possible reason for the gap. Many would d say I was down that year with a terrible disease. But keep in mind that you will have to show them the proof such as medical certificates if ever you decide to go with such answers.

Gaps can really be caused because you decided to take a break from your career and develop your skills with a bit of training. In fact this can go in your favor as the interviewer would spot an ambitious candidate in such a person. So it totally depend don the reason you provide the interviewer with.

So if you don’t have a favourable reason to say to your interviewer, try to remember any favorable incident /project you had done during those times. It might be small or irrelevant but such things can save you from the wrath of the interviewer while addressing them.

So fill up the gap with something relevant. If you can find something relevant to the banking sector it would add value to your profile as you may explain it to them like this

Here is a model answer for you

I always wanted to join banking. But I felt that I did not have the adequate qualification or knowledge to do well there. So I took a small gap from my high paid job and went on to work private with a small private firm in the banking sector. Of course I was not in any official position there and the payment also was not too good, But that experience helped me understand the banking sector much better in terms of practical experience.

So prepare an answer that suits your gaps if ever there is any. If not you do not have to worry about this question.

sir i cmpltd my graduation in 2009...aftr that i was doing icwa bt cannot pass.nw m appearing for idbi executive interview.should i mention about icwa or nt..if nt den wat reason should i give fr such long gap?plz rply

Mention the icwa factor. Understand that not everyone passes icwa and that should not be considered as a disadvantage. But you should mention it and twist it to your advantage by mentioning like ..

Since I was preparing for icwa I have good knowledge in the banking and accounting related fields..though I could not clear all the icwa papers, I hope to do it soon after joining the bank.

Sir,
I got a central govt job while doing my final year of graduation.. So I have to shift to correspondence course for the final year.. No change in previous year scores.. But when applied for graduation certificate they asked me to submit year wise score cards of previous years and original higher secondary certificate.. But neither of the certificates were returned by them.. And degree certificate was also not issued.. Now i have got an interview by IBPS.. The certificates to be submitted includes year wise mark list and degree certificates which i do not possess.. I'm having an attested copy of higher secondary mark list, copies of year wise mark list and provisional certificate.. Does that enough to attend the interview? Please suggest me whether to prepare for interview or not? Besides i got just 145 in obc category in IBPS PO 2013.. Please reply soon..

Do prepare for the interview and make sure you explain this issue to the examiners out at the interview centre...there is no point in not attending the interview and not preparing.

sir,

i hav completed my graduation on 2007.before publishin d result i got job and i joined, wen my result came i got 4 arrears.aftr dat i cleared my arrears only on 2010.
actual reason for the delay was dey ddn granted extra leaves.hw can i give a concrte reason to convince the panel.pls reply sir.

The reason you have said is enough.

you can explain it to the interview board like you were loyal to the company and you only tried to clear your papers when the company allowed you time.specify indirectly that you were a loyal employee and also that you were ambitious enough to clear your papers within the framework of the company.

Prepare your words properly. The answer will go in your favor.
