I wrote this poem back in February of this year, when my sweetheart was living on the other side of the Atlantic and we were missing each other.

I Miss You, My Love

I miss you my love
You waking by my side
Sharing that first coffee
Eyes meeting across the breakfast table as we plan our day
Travelling with you
Whether side by side in the car
Watching trees and fields whizz past from a train
Or rolling down a hill together on our bicycles
As summer sun burns the roadside grass

I miss you my love
Every time I stop to look
At something that catches my eye
Wishing I could share the moment with you
I miss the conversations
The laughter
The comfortable silences
The simplicity of just being with you

I miss you my love
Every time I have dinner alone
Every time I sit on the sofa of an evening
To read a book or watch TV
I miss not having you there
To curl up against me
Your head against my shoulder
And my arm draped lazily around yours

I miss the look in your eyes as we prepare for bed
The promise of passion
And a night spent warm and content

Every moment of the day
My love
I simply miss you
