From somewhere, times past, I still remember this phrase, my title, said and sang by Rex Harrison on a Broadway musicale. That movie I forgot, only the phrase resounded to me.:D Can someone jog my memory?
Your presence pesters me and
you hound me like my shadows.
How many times should you
sneak on me, your stealth?
I grimace at the sight of you as
you come near me, as if I ate
junk on my empty stommick
and I want to vomit it and you!
At school class, you stare at me
with glances only fools have out
of the corner of my eyes, so I
look the other way, much aghast.
On Valentine's Day, for the fourth
time do you take advantage to
crave for attention, and each time
the card is thrown into the dust bin.
Every time I confront you, face-to-
face, you go on your way, smiling,
saying "I'm sorry," Sorry, you are
not, I say, kicking the full dust.
One day, the dust will settle down.
After class, I look at the hallway,
empty save the usual friends. Out
there I will meet an empty stare.
Days will later see me looking out
for her like I am never used to not
her being around; not anywhere
is a novelty, a strange sensation.
"Now where is she" is a question
I do not for a moment ask myself
before, my heart beginning to throb.
"Is she all right" is way too late!
At the hospital, I climb the flight of
stairs, two steps, even three steps
at a time in haste to see her gasp
her last breath, of dreaded cancer!
On this rainy evening, clasped in
my hand a note she left 30 years
ago, which she clutched with her
hand in death: "I will always love
you!"
