I had always thought I was more of a dog person.
When I was a child we had both dogs and cats for pets.
Our first cat was named Sandy after his sandy brown coloured fur.
He hated cars, one summer when just about to leave to go back to the city.
Everyone was in the car and he managed to escape as we were shutting the doors
He ran off into the woods like someone was chasing him.
That brought quite a few tears to my siblings and me.
Then when we lived at a farm for awhile, my Mom had a cat that she named pyewacket.
She named it after a cat in a movie she liked.
There were some stray cats around the farm, and some kittens were born in the barn.
I don't know what happened to these cats its just a memory from childhood now.
One Saturday morning early in our marriage, my husband brought home a dirty little thing,
it looked like a drowned rat. He had found the poor thing in a school basement window.
She was stuck behind some metal bars. He said "if you don't help her she will die".
So I fed her some milk with an eye dropper and she flourished.
We called her Mindy, she turned into the most beautiful cat I had ever seen.
She had silky white fur and amazing green eyes, they seemed to contain the wisdom of the world.
Our daughter adored her. She was so intelligent if my Husbands alarm didn't go off on his clock,
She would come and jump on him and wake him at the exact time it should have rang.
She disappeared a few times. But always returned, and lived to a ripe old age of sixteen.
My daughter was unconsolable.S

So we got a new kitten and named her Dusty.

And she was a family friend for a long while.
After she died and the kids all moved out I decided I would never have another cat.
We moved to the country and I got a little dog and thought I was completely satisfied.
Then a neighbor found some abandoned kittens in a box by the town well.
She brought them over to our house so I decided to pick one.
First I spyed a nice ginger cat but the small little plain looking runt crawled up on my lap.
And I was in love, I call her Tilly, she is a very musical cat.
If I sing or hum she will meow and come wherever I am and just purr and purr.
I can't do without her I hope she lives a long time.
