Mozilla Thunderbird is a free email application just like Microsoft Outlook. It can be used to send and receive email from any email provider such as Gmail and Hotmail. It saves your email accounts and their passwords so you don’t have to keep entering it in every time you want to check your email, its as simple as double click the icon from your desktop, load the application and it receives all of the new email from all of your email accounts for you.
Installing On Windows
The next thing to do is download Mozilla Thunderbird to your computer. To do this go to the Mozilla Thunderbird download site and click on the download button. You can find it for doing a google search for thunderbird.
Once you have Thunderbird installed and have open the application, the first window that will appear is the mail account setup.
Simply type in your name, email, and password for the email account.
What Thunderbird is doing is trying to find your email providers imap and smtp settings. This is so that the application can both receive and send email through your email providers servers.
This is the main interface, the left hand side shows all of your email accounts, The top right will show a list of all of your email messages, when you click on a email, it will show its contents on the bottom right hand side of the screen.
That’s about all of the setup there is to be done, not that hard at all. The rest is pretty much self explanatory.
