Having a party is a huge deal. Many times, people become frustrated and irritable during the planning stages, and it just makes things difficult to execute in the end. Frustration can often a times lead to failure, but by taking proper measures, you can be throwing a successful party painlessly.
Plan meticulously
So the rule number one: Good, clean, scheduled planning is always the way to go. The absolute first thing you will need to do is get a notebook. This notebook will become your new best friend, from the moment you start planning, till the big day is over and done. In this notebook, you will be putting down all your lists of what you want and need, as well as all the need-to-do's.
Set out a menu
Your first few lists should include a menu, you always want to start with food and come up with a menu that fits your budget, theme (if you have one), and likes. Always go with a menu of food you like yourself, or food that you’re sure your guests may enjoy.
Prepare the guest list
Your next list should include names of all your guests. Making a list of names not only helps delegate how many people you will be feeding, but it will also help you get a good estimate of how many invitations you will need to send out.
Set the tone accordingly
Next you will need a list of what you will need to decorate and make your party festive, or romantic. The setting of your party is very important.
For example, if you are throwing a graduation party, you’re going to want to incorporate festive colorful things, bright lights, and loud accessories. On the other hand, if you want a romantic quiet setting, you want to go with dim lights, delicate flowers, and maybe even candlelight.
Get a good team for help
Another really good thing to think about is making a list of people who you can trust to help out. Having a good solid crew behind you helps make things way easier for yourself. Keep in mind when finding helpers, that people are often a times eager to help, but become frustrated when things are not organized.
Be sure to have a list of jobs to keep them busy. Also, be sure these are dependable people, ones you can trust to show up when they are needed, and do what is asked of them without any problems.
Have your stock in check
The last thing you need or want to do is get stressed up wondering if things are getting done. You will want to put together what you will need for supplies. Paper products, coolers, cooking utensils, etc. Once you have everything planned and your lists are being fulfilled, all you need to do then is be sure that everything is running smoothly.
Be the happy host
Most times when you throw a party, you end up playing host all day or night as well. Remember to smile through everything, even when things go wrong-and most times something will. Keep in mind that even if you do all the things mentioned here, your speed bumps will be small ones rather than a huge one.
Be sure to keep your notebook with you, to help keep the organizing under control. It's a terrific reference when something does happen. It also keeps you on schedule. Throwing a successful party isn’t so hard after all! Good luck, and have an awesome time planning that special occasion.
