How to Get Rid of Facebook Timeline / Chronology Feature

Timeline or Chronology is the recent innovation of Facebook released in September 2011. Timeline displays all the latest stories or statuses of a user in the form of a grid. If you retreat backward or scroll down, Timeline will only display the most important / main moments of the user, in other words, Timeline summarizes the display of user account.

However, if you are not familiar with this feature, you will be confused to navigate around the account. So many people dislike this new feature but do not what Timeline exactly is. Take for example the recent event on Finland that has just happened some days ago. Plenty of Facebook users deleted their account as they get no idea what Timeline is, and they thought their accounts were hacked or security violation had just happened. They were shocked when they saw personal messages that appeared on the Timeline, together with some of their old stories. This misunderstanding has led people delete their personal messages and even delete their entire account.

How to get rid of Timeline and back to the old Facebook display? First of all, you need to login into your Facebook account. After that, go to http://facebook.com/developer . In that page, choose “edit” and next, in the bottom left column, choose “delete application”. Refresh your browser now and say goodbye to Timeline forever.

Some people do more simple way by temporary deactivating their account on Facebook setting. Deactivating is not deleting an account. They say that after deactivating their account, their account is clear from anything they once posted, written, and shared. Do you want to try this way? I myself really dislike this confusing feature. I don’t know what’s on Facebook developers’ mind when they decide to release these bewildering two-column-features that will cause dizziness to many users, especially those the elderly who still use Facebook.
