There is a price for vanity and that is billions. Billions are spent each year just to remove wrinkles, lighten spots, and remove itching or flaking. There are so many procedures today that are being done just to achieve that younger looking skin to make you look like you came right out of the magazine. The simplest way to keep a healthy and glowing skin is to stay out of the sun.
Sunlight plays a huge factor in wrinkles, dryness, and sports. Skin changes with age. Aging skin becomes thinner and fat is lost which makes the skin look less smooth. The veins and bones are more prominent as the skin ages.
But by staying out of the sun, the skin can restore itself. Even though the damage from the sun cannot be undone, it is never too late to start protecting yourself from the harmful rays of the sun.
Aging can be slowed down with the following helpful tips:
1. When going out under the heat of the sun, it is important to wear protective clothing such as a hat. Wide-brimmed hats can protect your eyes, neck, ears, and head. When wearing sunglasses, make sure that it has the ability to block out most of the sun.
2. Some people have moles that grow. It is important to take notice of them and observe them for growth or abnormality. If there are any changes in the skin, inform your doctor right away. It is even suggested that the skin should be part of an annual physical exam.
3. Avoid artificial tanning such as sunlamps and tanning beds. Tanning pills and tanning makeups should also be avoided. The pills have an addictive that can turn your skin into orange after you take them. Despite the fact that the color additive is approved, it is only as a food coloring and not for tanning the skin. These additives can be harmful to the skin. Tanning products do not have the ability to protect your skin from the sun.
4. There are a variety of sunscreens that differ in their sun protection factor or SPF. A higher number means that it can protect you from the sun for a longer period of time. There are also products that indicate a broad spectrum protection which means that you are protected from both UVA and UVB. If you sweat a lot, there are water resistant sunscreens.
5. The most harmful rays of the sun is between 10 am and 3pm. This is when the UV rays are strongest. Even though you may notice cloudy skies, the rays of the sun can still penetrate through them. Even if you are in the water and feeling cooled down, as long as you are out between the time mentioned, you are still not safe from the ultraviolet rays.
