Comprehensive one stop shop style service providers are a new breed in India. A decade, heck, even a few years ago, trying to find someone who would plan, execute and ensure your event went without a hitch were pretty nonexistent. Now all the hotels have gotten into the game. No longer is a hotel the venue for just a wedding’s reception. Now you can have them organize for things beyond the wedding like your baby shower and your kids birthday. They do cost a bit, but then again, Indians do seem to have a lot of disposable income these days.
We attended a kid’s first birthday party at Hotel Avasa in Madhapur. It’s apparently new and has a ton of staff who all make you feel very welcome. The function hall is set to the side of the main hotel, so I did not visit it, nor did I stay at the place. We arrived at the huge entrance and were greeted by 3 people. That does seem a tad excessive, but in this economy, I’m glad folks are getting employed … even if it’s for a position that I don’t really deem necessary. Stepped though the metal detector manned by a very polite operator and headed into the very brightly lid landing area.
The stairs were white, wide and filled with these 8 feet tall balloon pillars. I loved it. There were floating dolphin chandeliers and more balloons. The hotel had organized these multi play zones with games like throw the dart, face painters, even a nail polish applier (huh. right? I know) and some others I did not explore. The food was arranged at top of the stairs to one end and the play area at the other. We went through huge double doors to enter the main celebration area and a cute whimsical sea theme awaited us. The stage had a cascading rainfall with fake fishes in it. Kids loved it and that’s all that matters.
While we waited for the birthday boy to show up, waiters served us finger food and drinks. They were prompt at offering food and clearing the table. Extra points for the attentive service fellas.
I am not the kind to go big on birthdays, but do see this as a great place for someone looking for a one stop shop that provides great results.
