Sure, writing calls or cries for comfort and convenience. What I mean is, the brain exerts the effort in producing the material, the end product of thought and imagination, and the vehicle is the pen, and the keyboard of a computer, with the mobility of one hand and both, respectively.
Did I mention the computer there?
Okay, the computer is not a luxury item on the shopping list of people who want to write; it is an extreme necessity. Being devoid of this machine or gadget is like having an arm amputated. You can experience a flash of inspiration now and then, the mind suddenly caught fire, but without a computer to write down your thoughts with you feel like sitting down in a quiet corner contemplating your future and manually writing your memoirs on a piece of paper, or a toilet paper as the case may be.:-)
Fortunately and luckily for me, I've got loved ones who saw to it that I didn't have to meet head on such a dead end since my old computer died a natural death weeks before. The choice was mine as to what suited me. I opted for the cheapest computer in town: a tablet.
Although much rave has been stirred by IPads of late as I was with their hyped operating system, Android, I discovered to my regret it was manufactured to give me a headache navigating the maze of its complexity, let alone being able to post not a soul of my thoughts on any of the writing websites!
Next I then bought a second-hand mini laptop with Windows XP installed and I'm home free.
Midget as the device might be and the keyboard I typed on, the transference of thoughts from my brain to the monitor screen had been smooth sailing to accomplish. It isn't so much how small, then, the computer is as how simplicity is made to be more complex with the innovations. It's perplexing when innovation makes simple things downright complicated, a misnomer as well.
So with Windows XP I'm at home again writing at full blast, never mind if it is on my new buddy mini laptop, Asus Eee 701 4G as against my old desktop that "collapsed."
Android, keep it simple, stupid.:-)

Once you've used a mini laptop for a while - it is not so bad. I have a netbook myself. Anytime I get my hands on someone's laptop it feels weird. They are so heavy compared to a netbook. xD I use my desktop for most of my writing though.
Me too. I'm so used to a desktop and laptop that I won't ever use a table...with Android on it!:)
I've got an Asus EEE PC and I love it. It's easy to carry around, I can work when I'm watching TV and it uses Linux so isn't so prone to viruses. They're affordable as well.
Very true but I had mine installed with Windows.:-)
I'm glad you can now publish your articles with your netbook. Two days ago, when I went to a department store, I accidentally stepped in the computer section. I saw a netbook and I find it very convenient when I work out of town. I wish that I can have it in the near future.
I hope to read more of your articles using your new buddy! lol
I owed it to you to have been able to get that netbook, sis!
Actually it doesn't matter. Whether you use a regular laptop, a mini laptop(netbook), or a tablet. It's just a matter of getting use to it.you might not be comfortable typing your column on you mini laptop, but if you continously do that you'll eventually be used to it. Actually I'm typing right now on my blackberry playbook tablet. And almost all of my columns is written here.
Right, it just takes getting used to. Thanks for the comment.
I think the mini laptop as you call it falls under the category of Netbook. It is what I mentioned in my comments to your article which described your difficulties with your new Tablet. Anyhow, it is a happy news that you are back at full throttle. It is better to connect an external keyboard to your mini laptop. The cramped keyboard on it will be a little difficult to type on. Best wishes my friend!
Thank you, dear friend. I have always benefited from your suggestions. Much appreciated.
