The attitude, tendency, personality, approach or outlook, whatever may you define it as, it is the most difficult thing to change. It is in your blood and it is the most difficult thing to modify, even if it is for the good. They say, don’t change the world, change yourself. Because, changing yourself is far easier than changing the world.
But at times it gets difficult to bring about the changes in oneself, leave alone the world.
The one thing I would like to speak about is the approach the government undertakes. Whatever may you call my vision of looking at it, but I think, the government should not interfere between these things that I am going to talk about.
There are things like the barbaala issue, the liquor issue and the safety issue. These are the three things I have been itching to talk about since ages. I know I am talking about some old issues here. But I think I need to talk about these things so that I may know through your comments what you feel.
The Barbaala Issue
First of all, let me come to the barbaala issue. Barbaalas are those girls who are known in the by the name in Mumbai and Maharashtra. These are the girls who dance in bars and earn their livelihood. There are hundreds and thousands of such girls who used to make a livelihood by dancing in bars and night clubs.
Stopping these girls from carrying on with their profession was one of the most horrible decisions on the part of the government. They did not see the other side of the coin. What the government saw was only one thing – stopping such dances where young girls are involved, for good.
It is really difficult to understand how can the government stop these girls from earning their livelihood all of a sudden? But what hurts these girls and their families more is that, they do have nothing to do and nowhere to go. Some of the families were solely dependent on these girls as they were the breadwinner for their respective families.
