Girls Forced To Marry Their Rapist

You would hope this would never happen anywhere in the world, but sadly its not the case. A 16 year old girl from Morocco killed herself by swallowing rat poison after a court judge ruled she had to marry the man who raped her.

The family wanted their daughter to marry her attacker to avoid the same it would bring on the family when people found out she was raped and therefore no longer a virgin. When the family reported the attack they were need told if was a good idea for the girl to become her rapist’s wife.

Moroccan’s are now demanding that this law be changed and a new law is introduced to protect victims of these violent attacks. In Many parts of the middle east a rapist will escape jail if he marries his victim.

Women may also face jail if they are married and they are raped. A 21 year old woman was jailed for adultery after she was raped by her husband’s cousin. Her attacker was also jailed for seven years. The woman was eventually given a pardon.

I couldn’t believe anything like this could happen its a disgrace I hope these women get the justice they deserve. Being raped is not a crime and women shouldn’t be like they are criminals.
