Ghana Premier League (GPL) leaders Asante Kotoko will face a stern test at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park at Dormaa this afternoon as the 18th round of the GPL are cleared.

The Porcupines have opened a six point’s gap on top of the Premiership log, and will seek to maintain that position as they play their second away game this second round.

They however face a very serious threat to their credentials as they take on Aduana Stars in the topmost fixture of these midweek games to be cleared today and tomorrow.

Kotoko have never picked a point at Dormaa since Aduana Stars made their debut in the Ghanaian top-flight three seasons ago, and the hosts have promised to keep that record going.

They hold a very good home record at their Dormaa base and beating them to the three points, would require a performance of great magnitude from the league leaders.

The two sides fought to a fiercely contested scoreless game in the first round fixture at Kumasi and another closely fought affair is anticipated this afternoon.

Kotoko has won all their two games this second round, and they go into this game in confident mood of ending their poor run at Dormaa where they have yet to score in two games.

It would be the determination of Aduana Stars to maintain their unbeaten record against Kotoko at home against the eagerness of the Porcupines to end that run.

In other GPL games, second placed Hearts of Oak will trek to the Len Clay Stadium at Obuasi to face the might of inform AshantiGold.

Defending Champions, Berekum Chelsea will be at home to Wa All Stars at the Golden City Park where they will seek to end their two-game losing streak.

Tema Youth will seek to get back to winning ways when they welcome Wassaman United to the Tema Park as would Medeama SC who hosts New Edubiase United at Sekondi.

Liberty Professionals and Ebusua Dwarfs would battle it out at the Carl Reindorf Park at Dansoman with the three points crucial to both sides.

Heart of Lions will be the odds on favourites to collect the three points as they host relegation threatened Berekum Arsenal at their Kpando base on Thursday.

Bechem United and Tudu Mighty Jets will square off at the Bechem Park also on Thursday in what is expected to be a closely fought encounter with the points crucial to either side’s chances of survival.

The GPL takes a break this Sunday to make way for the African Champions League first round second leg eliminator between Ghanaian champions Berekum Chelsea and their Liberian counterparts LISCR FC with the Ghanaians holding a 2 – 0 first leg advantage.

Chelsea will welcome the Liberians to the Golden City Park and would be expected to complete the double over their opponents as they seek to make a huge impression on their continental debut.

The GPL returns on Sunday, March 11 with the 18th week league fixtures.
