There can’t be anyone that doesn’t know the importance of recycling and how it can reduce waste and help protect the environment. Recycling can also help earn you some money as well. One product commonly reused these days is empty ink cartridges.

There are many companies like these around. Some have a minimum pay out of £25.00, while others will pay out at much less, or don’t have any minimum payment level. You can also choose to donate the money you make from the cartridges to a charity of your choice. The empty cartridges are often used by companies to be refilled and then resold at a cheaper price.

These companies don’t want every brand of cartridge and some pay more than others per cartridge, so it’s worth looking around and seeing what the best offer is. Some of them will send a courier to collect your cartridges, while others will send you a postage bag to put them in or just provide a name and address for you to send them.

Recycle Ink Cartridges, a UK company will send out a courier to collect your items, all you need to do is fill out a short form, put them in an empty box and wait for them to be collected. Cash For Cartridges will pay up to £4.50 for some ink cartridges and they take most major brands including Dell, Canon and HP.

High Street companies such as Boots and Tesco also take empty ink cartridges and usually reward you with points. If you don’t want to recycle for cash, there are plenty of charities such as Oxfam who can use your empty cartridges.

It’s not just ink cartridges which can be recycled for money. Some household waste such as card and some tins can also be recycled and you’ll be paid by weight. Mobile phones, old electrical items, games are among the other products which companies will pay you for if you recycle them.

Again, it's not for cash, but I recycle aluminium cans for points at a machine at my local Tesco store.
