Gears

Few facts on the topic of gears to get people interested.

Gears are used to transmit enery in a circular motion.

There are 2 parts to a gear and they are the wheel, which is the body and the teeth, which mesh together with other gears to trasmit energy.

the size of the whell is referred to gear ratio. An example of this is 2:1, which means one gear will spins twice whil the frist gear will spin once, when they are meshed together.

Also, did you know that gear can overlap one another.

There are gear set, which means they have a couple of geras in them. Most of the time they are used in transmisson or drills. Drills uses planetary gears sets, which contains a sim gear and planet gears the go around it.

There are different types of gear to met the needs of the purpose it is being used for. the types are :

§ Bevel gear

· Used to move gears in an angle

§ Helical gear

· Used in cars because it makes less noise

§ Worm gear

· Used to move up and down-very slow

§ Rack and Pinion gear

· Used to move vertically and horizontally
