The urinary system is also called excretory system. It an organ system of the body which creates, stores, and excretes urine containing the waste products of the body. People have two pairs of kidneys which are bean shaped, two ureters, bladder or urinary bladder and urethra. These are responsible in keeping our body clean and free from toxins.

The kidney or kidney organizes water and electrolytes of the body. It is also responsible for the release of excess water. It leaves only the components needed by the body to function normally.

Each person has a pair of skidney located in the rear part of the stomach, left and right sides of the vertebral column. These are colors, red, red chocolate due various blood vessels in it. The kidney has millions of nephrons which isolate and discard the wastes of body through the urine.

The kidneys also create hormone called erythropoietin, which helps the bone marrow to create red cells of blood.

Kidneys are very important in maintaining our blood pressure is it helps in regulating the blood volume as well as the sodium in our body. This is accomplished through the creation of angiotensin.

Besides the kidney, our urinary system has various parts.

The ureters are a pair of tube approximately 14-18 inches long and 1/8 inches in width or diameter. It directs the urine from the kidney to the urinary bladder.

The urinary bladder, on the other hand, is similar to a pouch made of flesh and tendon tissue located in part of the pelvis where the urine is temporarily deposited.

Lastly, we have the urethra which opens through the urinary orifice and leads the urine from the bladder to outside of the body.
