People are not perfect. The simple fact is that even the best of us will forget from time to time. Sadly, it does seem like those times are the absolutely worst possible times for anyone to be forgetting something. We look right at something, as a part of our brain slaps another part, telling us that we forgot. There are some things that are rather horrifying to forget and let us detail the five worst things that we can forget.

The Five Worst Things We Can Forget

Obviously, if something crucial is missed on this list, I have likely forgotten it.

Forgetting your wallet is one crucial thing. Most people keep their driver’s license in their pocket and obviously cash or at least some form of payment like a credit or debit card. Throwing on a pair of pants to go somewhere can be great, providing that you remove the wallet from the other pair of pants. Alternatively, you can forget to remove your wallet before it goes into the laundry. That is a bit of an embarrassment.

Various household chores can be forgotten. One could argue that this might fall right under the choose not to remember category but still there are honest attempts to forget. Did you remember to take out the trash? Did you remember to do the dishes? Clean the bathroom? Make the bed? Vacuum the floor? Mow the lawn? When people have a list of things to do, the law of averages state will indicate this is bound to happen.

The names of people are another thing that is mostly forgotten. This situation may sound familiar, where you are talking to someone, while racking your brain trying to stick a name to the face. Yet you are drawing a complete and utter blank. Sometimes the name comes to you much later, as you get through a conversation without using any names. On the same track, you calling your significant other by the name of an ex in a moment of absentmindness, which really won’t win you any points.

Forgetting a birthday or anniversary is something. It is wise to mark all important dates on a calendar but even that may not be enough, as you do have to look at the calendar. Not remember the birthday of the wrong person could land you in hot water. And if you fail to remember your wedding anniversary, that could be some trouble.

The last thing people can forget is their medication. Really that is the worst of them all in many ways, as at the very best, you can be in misery and at the very worst, there could be fatal consequences. The doctor is likely to prescribe you medication for a reason and give you clear instructions on how to take it. Do mind those instructions. Yet people forget their medication. The best we can hope for is they live to regret it.

We are going to forget things, when we have a lot on our mind especially. Making notes can be useful, providing we remember to look at them. Eating certain foods may increase your memory as well but there is only so much we can do.

My wedding anniversary was the one I always used to have trouble with. I could remember that I'd got married on the first Friday in September so I was usually close enough, but I could never remember the actual date! I tried to convince my wife that since we'd got married on the first Friday of September we should make that the anniversary rather than fussing about an actual date of the month, but she wouldn't go for it.
