I am an active online user for over 10 years and during this time, I have read so many rather funny examples of ignorance (lack of knowledge) and urban legends, I honestly wonder what some people feed their brain with. Or don't they have a brain in the first place? Who knows... *lol*

I am actively doing all kind of stuff online. I am browsing news sites, participate in websites like Mylot and Gather and I have really seen a lot of silly stuff that would also qualify for a Darwin Award, but the people are not dead. Unfortunately, death by doing something stupid is the main qualification for being nominated for the Darwin Award and if you did not die, you are not nominated.

Anyway, I would like to list some of the funniest or rather worst stories and thoughts I have read online. What a pity that stupidity does not extinct...

Dog and Wife

Ok, I start with an adult topic. I am deeply sorry, but this is one of the most recent and most disturbing questions I had read on Mylot. I almost fell off my chair. If you do not want to read this story, quickly skip to the next one, you have been warned. And I believe that most of you will be curious enough to go on reading despite my warning...
One man told a story about the neighbour's dog hopping onto his wife and now they were both afraid she could get pregnant.
Do I have to add anything more? I do not want to insult anyone, but I thought the basic biological rules are taught in schools today...

Telephone Terror

There is one urban legend that spread in Asia last year that now has arrived in Nigeria.
It says that there is a prank caller who is calling mobile phones with a 5 digit phone number. People who answer this call die immediately. No warning, no "You will die in seven days" like in horror movies. Nope, immediate death. There are gazillions of worried people out there trying to find a solution and a scientific explanation for this. But it is so simple: There is no explanation as this is a stupid hoax. A joke that is not true.

Macaulay Culkin is dead

Rumours about dead celebrities are not really knew. Be it Hugh Hefner or Charlie Sheen, there are tons of alive celebrities that were in the news with their "death" that did not yet happen.

But Macaulay Culkin (Kevin from Home Alone) tops them all. The rumour that he is dead spreads like an eternal fire and unlike Macaulay, the rumours seems to never die.
What is it with people telling and spreading such rumours?

Facebook will be shut down

Another rumour about "someone's" death: Facebook will be shut down on [insert date here]. This "news" is always accompanied by the advice to save the uploaded photos as they will be deleted along with the social network itself. Don't believe it!

Hamsters need company and guinea pigs are loners

I recently had written an article about torturing pets without knowing it. There are so many pieces of wrong information out on the internet, it is not funny anymore.
The only hamster breed that enjoys a partner are dwarf hamsters. The usual gold hamster is a strict loner and keeping them together in a (small) cage can cause havok. On the other side, almost all other rodents (chinchillas, guinea pigs, rats, rabbits, gerbils) NEED company. It is NOT enough to have your kids play with it once a day!

I hope this article did not only entertain you, but also made check credible sources before believing everything blindly that you read or hear.

Re the dog thing: people and dogs can't interbreed, so maybe the chap is worried that his wife is, actually, a dog? Hint: he should check how many razors she gets through in a week.
