Scientists are warning fathers-to-be to stop smoking to protect their unborn baby from the risk of stillbirth or birth defects.
Scientists are sending strong warnings to fathers-to-be who smoke to instantly quit the act in order to protect their unborn babies from calamity. Scientists say their negative acts could bring about a series of very grave consequences for the unborn baby. Consequences so grave the unborn child might stand the high risks of birth defects or even more dangerous – stillbirth.
The University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom recently conducted an intensive research in the field of cigarette smoking and the effects it can have on the unborn child and came up with this shocking revelation that is sending waves all over the world. The scientists from the research team found out that pregnant women who are constantly being exposed to second-hand cigarettes smoke increased their risks of stillbirth by a frightening 23%. This same group of women increased their risks of giving birth to a baby with defects by a shocking 13%.
Experts have therefore stressed on the need for women all over the globe to know this very crucial information to help save lives of their unborn babies.
Researchers from the University of Nottingham carried out the research in several continents all over the world to come to a conclusion. Major researches were carried out in North America, South America, Europe and Asia.
The study did not focus on pregnant women that smoke but pregnant women who were exposed on a daily basis to cigarette smoking at their homes and work places.
From the studies, experts have said that being exposed to the smoke from more than 10 cigarettes a day is enough for a pregnant woman’s risk to be significantly increased!
And to the fathers-to-be that are still engaged in intensive smoking at homes – around their pregnant wives, doctors have seriously warned against that. Father-to-be out there, please even if you do not care about your own health at least consider that of your unborn baby. Your constant smoking around your pregnant wife is killing your unborn child.
Smoking is without a shred of doubt very dangerous. It is dangerous to the one smoking and to the one inhaling the second-hand smoke. According to many health experts, they are highly convinced that cigarette smoke can also have a highly negative impact on sperm development. So if you are a man who smokes and is finding it difficult to have a baby with your wife then experts recommend you give up the smoke before trying to have a baby with your wife.
