Facebook Application Farmville : Mastery over virtual farming

Facebook is a social networking site as I had mentioned in my earlier post. This is the virtual playground where children and even adults play games and socialize. One of the most important aspects of this is doing things together. In a situation where you are sitting miles apart it may be difficult to coordinate things so that you and your friends are all online together. So it is easier to socialize via these free online gaming applications which abound on face book. One of the most popular facebook applications is Farmville.

Farmville is a game of virtual farming. It allows you to become a farmer in virtual reality. You can grow crops, trees and rear animals on your virtual farm. The variety of seeds available is fascinating, and the usual farm animals in Old Mac Donnald's Song are all present here. The cows and goats give milk, the hens give eggs, the sheep and rabbits give wool, the ducks and swans give feathers, and guess what the horse provides horse hair. So each animal adds to the coins that you can earn.

Then there are the trees that you plant virtually. These have the normal fruit trees like apple, orange, banana trees and also some more exotic ones like cherry, plum, grapefruit, olive, avocado, and passion fruit. They trees only give you mastery points when you plant them the first time, and not in subsequent harvests. While crops give you mastery points each time you plant a fresh batch. The number of days taken to harvest the crops and the trees can be anything from two hours to four days.

So if you are leaving for the weekend plant some artichokes that take four days to grow. Plus if you are getting bored in office you can put in some raspberries that will be ready to harvest in just a couple of hours. You can also expand your farm when you have the money for it. You can visit your friends' farms as they are all your virtual neighbours in this game. Plus when you visit and do chores on their virtual farms you get to earn more money and farmville mastery points. This helps you climb to the next level faster.
