Expiration of Federal Reserve Act and Mayan Calendar ending - Any connection?

In the past few years, there has been a lot of speculations about the famous Mayan Calendar. The calendar starts at 11th of August, 3114 BC and the date it ends at is December, 23th of 2012. Many people thought that's the day when World as we know it will end, but in the recent two years there has been a couple of discoveries that seem to deny that. Apparently, Mayan calendar is not actually ending at 2012, that's only the end of one cycle. Every cycle lasts 5126 solar years and calendar shows only one cycle. Although some are relieved because of this, many are still worried.
Recently, there has been some talk about new event that's going to occur around 21st of December. Apparently, on the 23rd of December this year, Federal Reserve Act is expiring.
What is Federal Reserve Act? It is an Act of Congress made on 23rd of December in 1913 that created and set up Federal Reserve System. In other words, central banking system was created and use of dollars was legalized. Act was signed by Woodrow Wilson, president of USA at the time.
However, the first who actually proposed central banking system creating was Nelson Aldrich, Republic Senator of Rhode Island. While travelling across Europe, he noticed that few countries already had central banking system, which he proposed in USA as Aldrich Plan. It did not receive good critics. Majority of people in western, rural countries were against it because they feared that it would become a tool of rich financiers. In 1913, it turned out it was only delayed, since new president Woodroow Wilson started supporting the plan, and at the end of the year it was accepted with only few changes compared to original Aldrich Plan.
The Act was signed for 99 years. It's easy to calculate it would be ending at the end of this year. In order to re-sign the contract, two thirds of USA states would have to agree. It seems easy like that - why would anyone not agree? Considering recent issues all around the world and financial crisis, huge debts that USA already has, it doesn't seem like this system will have bright future. However, if USA doesn't re-sign the Act, it seems that they would have to pay their debts in - gold, which they don't have. To top all that off, date is only 2 days after the so called apocalypse, also 2 days before Christmas.
We have to ask ourselves - Is that only a coincidence? Whether it is or not, it's another thing to worry people. With all the panic that has been caused by so much talk about the famous date, I can already see massive paranoia that's going to take over. After all, if USA's economy is going to collapse, does it mean the end of the world? No. But if that does happen, I doubt we’ll be seeing the world as we knew it any time soon.
After all, we can just wait. And have faith in USA’s government and people.
