For some reason, Expertscolumn is suffering from a big dip in views today with some members reporting a drop of over 50% when compared to what they are used to.
Since I joined expertscolumn back in March 2012, today is the first day that I have generated less views on ExpertsColumn than I have on Triond. I noticed that things were unusually slow on Expertscolumn when I logged in at lunch time today, normally by then I have received around 70 views, but for some reason today I had only registered around 30 views.
As the day has gone on this trend has continued and at the time of writing this article I have only registered 49 views. On a normal day, I would be around the 120 view mark. In the past this sort of slump would be due to a server crash, which over the last couple of months Expertscolumn has been prone to, as they have been trying to upgrade the site.
But today no such crash has happened, this slump in view is a complete mystery. At first I thought this slump was just on my articles, but after a couple of visits to the Expertscolumn chat room and a chat with other members, it appears that the whole site has been affected.
Hopefully this is just a temporary glitch and the views will be back to normal soon, as the current slump in views is not helping me with my goal of reaching one million views.

I am not too familiar with how either of the sites work, but I do know from reading that expertscolumn is suffereing something horrific. They lost articles and views are down. I am very sorry to hear about this for everyone. I do hope they will correct whatever when wrong or down. :o(
It's been a rough old week for a lot of people here on Efiggy1, but things are getting back to normal and hopefully admin will have some luck recovering the missing articles.

The views yesterday were almost back to normal and today they are up. EC may be getting back to normal. I wish the Administrator great success in the days ahead.
My organic views have been pretty steady over the last couple of days, the comment was more in relation to the lack of activity in the comments section of the front page :). It was a little lonely on here this morning.

Nice article with essential tips. Thanks. How can we know how many times a certain article is viewed(total)? Always in support.
You can use the filters on the traffic page Paul to see the traffic of individual columns and at the moment you can go back up to six months. Plus if you go to the earnings page on your profile you will be able to see your total views to date.

I had a tip from fellow member Deepa a few weeks back to help get my traffic moving again and wanted to share it with you all. She recommended that I joined squidoo and used lenses that I wrote to link back to my expertscolumn articles. I did this and finished my first lens last week and it seems to have really helped. Well worth a try if any of you are struggling for traffic at the moment.
My views have picked up the last couple of days, Paul.
Saturday was good for me but yesterday was a little duff Buzz, it seems a lot more stable at the moment which is nice :)

I see this drop down in views as nothing to get disturbed about it will certainly increase over time.
There seem to be highs and lows in views at the moment, but as you say things should start to pick up again over time :)

Thank you pheonix35, I am hoping the drop in views is only temporary as well. It's happened in the past and expertscolumn has bounced back so I don't see why that shouldn't be the case again this time :)
I had noticed it was worse over the summer and was hoping it would pick up - it still might.
I do think they ought to do something about duplicate content as this is known to get a site penalised.
I guess that is the hardest thing to balance Jane, I have to include myself in the list of people who posts on more than one site. However I am only active here on expertscolumn but I have reposted my triond work. To be honest I didn't realise that the duplicate articles my be part of my problem, perhaps it's time to lose triond completely and give my columns here a better chance.

It's a big possibility, but views have started to improve again. Just authors need to keep promoting.

Yes, today is a slow day. I only have about 100 views. Good to know that I am not the only one suffering a slow day today.
Yesterday was very strange indeed, I really hope it was a one off and the views start to pick up again today.
