Being involved with marketing on the web as a solo entrepreneur means you have to acquire skills. In the beginning, it is usually just one person who is doing all the work. So now you have to learn how to research and find niches where you can earn a decent profit. For some that is easier said than done, but even those who are challenged can overcome this obstacle. Obviously you have to find the best information you can, learn and then apply yourself.
All markets and the sub-niches exist everywhere on the web and of course including offline, too. The following point may seem very obvious, but failing to recognize it can be disastrous. You have to ask yourself if you know for sure you can reach a niche. You have to be able to find them and then get in front of them with your message. There are all kinds of impediments and obstacles to doing that. It is possible that you may have to join particular forums. However, not all forums allow marketing in them such as links in the signature files. So just be sure you are able to do the critical task of getting the attention of the people in a niche.
Each person doing business on the web, like an IM marketer, has a set of methods or skills by which marketing is done. Obviously, you can learn all the skills you want, but lots of these people seem to avoid doing that. Even though you can learn any marketing method you want, you may be too lazy to do it. That is why you have to look at your skill sets and determine if they are enough. While you are searching for profitable niches, you must recognize that some will be easier or harder to reach. What is perhaps ideal is if you are willing to learn new methods so you can reach just about any niche out there on the net.
You really should not bother getting involved with a niche that has shallow profit potential. Yes, there are some where you have very limited products to offer to them. A situation like that only increases the challenges to you, the internet marketer. What you want to find is a niche that looks good using all the typical criteria. But you also want that niche to be deep and rich with product or service offering potential. That type of niche will give you many chances for backend marketing. And if you ask all the old timers in marketing, they'll tell you that all the money is in the backend.
Knowing how to find a profitable niche is certainly not rocket science, as they say. But just make sure you do things in the right sequence or you may have more issues. Avoid going for a product and then finding someone to sell it to. The easiest and smartest thing is to locate a niche that is ripe for profits, first. Find something that interests you, and then find products to sell to them.
