These small tarts are easy to make and they are wonderful at parties or any time at all. they are tiny so 24 wont go very far so you might want to double the recipe.

Easy to Make Mushroom tarts

Mushroom tarts are absolutely delicious. The filling can be made a day ahead and refrigerated. You need only stir in a few spoons of water if the mixture seems too thick. To have the tarts ready to bake, fill them up two hours before putting them in the oven. This recipe makes 24. They are good to have when companies coming or any time.

Ingredients:

2 tbsp. butter

1/3 cup chopped onion

3, 4 oz. packages mushrooms roughly chopped

3Tbsp. sherry, white wine or water

2 tsp chopped thyme leaves

1/4 tsp pepper and salt each

1/4 cup cream cheese

24 mini-fillo shells, which is 2 boxes, 1.90 oz each.

Garnish with small thyme sprigs.

Method:

Heat oven to 350F. Melt butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat.

Add onions, cover and cook 3 minutes.

Stir in mushrooms. Saute 5 minutes until tender.

Stir in thyme, sherry, salt and pepper

Simmer 1 minute. Stir in cream cheese until melted.

Fill each fillo cup with 1 Tbsp mushrooms..

Place on baking sheet and heat about 5 minutes.

Now bring in your friends and family and enjoy the good food.

 

 If something in your fruit bowl is a little past it's prime, don't throw it out. Make something tasty with it instead.

Cut out the soft parts of peaches and nectarines, peel and cut them up.  Top with crumbled up cookies and mircove for a couple of minutes. They make a delicious dessert.

Cut bad parts out of apples, slice and saute with porkchops and sliced onions. A yummy main dish.

Freeze brown bananas in their peels and use in smoothies or muffin or cake mixes.

Crush soft kiwis and use as a marinade. Kiwis are natural meat tenderizers.
