Some people think that with a little effort - a few minutes per day - they could earn enough online for a living. Forget about it, this won't work!

I am earning money online for 15 years now.

I am not rich.

After 15 years I am still earning less than $500 per YEAR online!

And all this although I own my own PTC website, write articles for Triond and other websites, writing on Mylot plus am actively clicking on other PTC sites.

Becoming rich by doing something totally "easy and fun" online will not work unless you are on top of some illegal ponzi scheme and rip off other people.

Or you are lucky to find many referrals for free or when you have paid for advertising, that it pays off. I am not lucky.

I earned an average of $1 per month on Triond which just increased to a bit over $3 for this month (August 2011). But as no gain without pain, I had bought Triendster for $60. Now you may do the maths on how long it will take me to earn back what I had spent. Triendster is a nice gadget to find and add massive amounts of friends, but it does not pay off very quickly.

And one more thing: I am pretty sick of people sending me PMs like "Could you please tell me how to earn money online?". Geez, read my articles, ask Google or any other website and do the homework yourself! Read reviews, read the terms of service before joining ANY site and do not take away my limited online time. Sorry, in case this sounds too harsh, but why do some people expect me to "help with online business" when I am only doing this as a hobby?

I have a full-time job with 40 or more hours per week for my living. I could not live off my online earnings. Not in Germany where the cost of living is high.
And if someone really intended to do it for a living, they should not depend on others who spoon-feed them.

Don't you agree?

I think most of the people here work online to make a few dollars on the side. Either they work from home and/or do not need to work at all. This is just a way of keeping themselves occupied during their free time. Kind of like a hobby that pays.

I myself just write for the fun of it. After school, I pretty much have nothing to do other than to wait for the next day. So, I keep myself occupied here, and on some other sites.

Oh my gosh.

Well, I got discourage but I think about it or I do not want to think about it. I have heard that some people earn a living online. I just do not know......

Certainly writing on a pay-per-view site that pays out only from its meagre advertising earnings is not likely to earn you a living wage. Search engines downplay links to sites like this so the number of hits is never likely to be high, quite rightly in my opinion because the quality of articles on here is lower and the information less useful than the free and verified information on the likes of Wikipedia or articles on websites of newspapers which are written by professional journalists.

I have read your article. Is it really true?

What I wrote about me is definitely true...

No, I don't agree with what you have said. I also don't understand what led you to believe that we must do something illegal to earn a living online. If you have 5000 articles online that get at least 5 views per day, that makes over $25 per day easily. Doing the math, this is more than $750 per month. And it takes time to build a portfolio, but it is very possible.

I understand your concern, but you shouldn't give up. With over 40hrs/week day job, I guess you won't have enough time to concentrate online

Thanks for your honest reply. My article is written very harsh to get people to discuss their opinions about it and I am glad you commented on it :-)

Thanks!
